Welcome Class of 2010!
AHS Faculty and Staff support the class of 2010
The freshman year is new experience and starts a new chapter in the life of your child! AHS is proud to welcome the class of 2010 and we are gearing up for a very successful year!
Academic Transcripts
Transcripts start accumulating the freshman year. The semester grades are recorded on a permanent transcript. The transcript becomes important in a few years, when employers, colleges, and scholarship committees request them. It is important to remember that semester grades, beginning the freshman year, are recorded on this transcript. Grades are important, please be sure to stress this to your child, especially if your child plans to attend a post-secondary institution.
Student Agendas
New to Alma High School last year, all students are being issued an agenda. The agenda has a calendar, a place for students to write assignments and tasks, academic tips, and a hallway passport. The agenda is being used for multiple purposes. The high school faculty hope the agenda will improve communication and teach students time management and prioritizing skills. In addition, the agenda has a hallway passport which will be utilized as a hall pass system. Students who need to leave class will fill out the passport and carry their agenda with them at all times. This will provide an easier way of tracking students throughout the day. Each student is given one agenda. Because of the expense of the agenda, students who lose their agenda will have to purchase one for $5.00.
Drivers Permits
Arkansas State law requires students have at least a "C" average (2.00) grade point average in order to test for their driver's permit. Students who want to test for their permit need to see Mrs. Steward in the Counseling Center to get the form required by the Arkansas State Police drivers testing department.
Work Permits
As a courtesy to our students, Mrs. Steward has work permits available in the Counseling Center. Work permits are for students who are under the age of sixteen. The student must fill out part of the work permit and their employer fills out the remainder of the form. Should your child need one, please have him or her come by to see Mrs. Steward.
