Hours

The library is open Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm. This includes times before and after school. Students may exchange books throughout the day as it is convenient to their classroom schedule.

 

Circulation

The media center uses an automated circulation system for check-out of all media and equipment.  Books may be checked out for 1 week and renewed on a weekly basis.  A large reference section is available for in-library use.   Periodicals and newspapers do not circulate outside of the media center.  

Media Collection

The books and AV materials in the collection are selected to meet the curriculum needs and interests of our students and faculty. The media center has a collection of over 12,000 items including fiction and nonfiction books, magazines, CD-ROMs, videos, and other AV media. There are 9 computers in the center for students to access electronic information.

Books--The media center has over  12,000 titles that are arranged by the Dewey Decimal System. The collection of Reading Counts books is growing.

Periodicals--The center subscribes to 13 different magazines for students. Current magazines are on display in the reading area. Six professional magazines are available for teachers.

AV Material--Over 250 CD's, DVD's, video cassettes, audio cassettes, and kits are housed in the media center. Most AV materials are reserved for instructional use by faculty members, but some items may be checked out by students. Our center belongs to an educational coop which provides access to additional AV material. The media center also has access to cable TV.   When requested, programs may be accessed for instructional use.

Full Text Databases on CD-ROM--Includes the World Book Encyclopedia, Grolier Encyclopedia, Student Research Library, and Encarta Encyclopedia

On Line Access--Internet access under adult supervision

OCLC First Search--Online Computer Library

ProQuest Direct--Premier online information service providing access to electronic full text content, including magazines, journals, and newspapers

Other Services

Copy Machine--A copy machine is available for all faculty members. Students may have items copied by staff as long as items are related to class activities.

Lamination--A 25" roll laminator is available in the media center. The media center staff provides laminating services for all faculty members. Students may have items laminated as long as items are related to class activities. Items must be given to the staff at least one day in advance.

WAESC COOP--Our school is a member of the Western Arkansas Education Service Cooperative located in Branch, Arkansas. A wide variety of media is available to our faculty and students through this coop. A computer program listing the coop's catalog is available in the media center. A delivery and pick-up service runs weekly.
