Coach McMurray and Sr. High boys track team for winning Airedale Relays.

Matt Whitworth and the High School Concert Choir for their "Excellent" rating and the Honors Choir, Honors Women, and Honors Men for their 1st Division "Superior" ratings at the Arkansas State Choral Festival. The Honors Women also received "Best In Class Women's Chorus" and "Best In Class Overall Large Group" awards. In addition, the Honors Men received "Best In Class Men's Ensemble" and "Best In Class Overall Small Ensemble".

Matt Whitworth and High School Choirs for their success at the "American Classics Big "D" Music Festival" held this past weekend in Dallas Texas. The 9th girls grade girls and the Concert Choir both received Second Division "Excellent" ratings from all three judges. The 9th grade boys received a First Division "Superior" rating from all three judges. Both the Honors Choir Men and the Honors Choir Women received First Division "Superior" from all judges plus an "Outstanding performance" designation for ensembles of their size. The Honors Choir received First Division "Excellent" ratings as well along with "Best In Class" and "Best In Show" designations.
Bob Wolfe and High School Science students for winning the following awards at the State science: Bobbie Hendron - Honorable Mention Behavioral Science; Venusa Phomakay - Honorable Mention Biochemistry; Chris Thibault - ISWEEP Award, 1st Energy & Transportation; Kenneth Banga - 2nd Physics; Atalie Mickelson - Entergy Award, US Metric System Award, Assoc. For Women Geoscientist Award, 4th Best in State; Alma High School - Class 5A State Champion School.
Commander Rickard, Senior Chief Arnold and the NJROTC for their outstanding performance at the Tulsa Union High School Invitation Drill Meet. They placed second in Unarmed Regulation, second in Armed Regulation, second in Unarmed Exhibition, third in Female Tug of War and third in First Year Cadet Regulation Drill.

Mrs. Tiffany Scrivner for winning a No-Paperwork Violation award and was named the 2008 Northwest Arkansas Science and Engineering Fair Teacher of the Year.

Commander Rickard, Sr. Chief Arnold and NJROTC for an outstanding performance at the Auburn University Super Meet. They finished 2nd in the 8 x 220 yard relay.
Mat Whitworth and the Alma Middle School and High School Choirs competed at the Regional Choir Competition this past weekend. 9 of our 11 choirs received the top score of "1st Division--Superior". All 4 10th-12th grade choirs are also now qualified to compete at the state competition next month at UCA.

Commander Rickard, Senior Chief Arnold and NJROTC for qualifying for the Area Eight Super Meet at Auburn University on March 1. They finished 2nd place overall with many individual awards and several cadets earned individual medals in academics, curl ups and push ups. Next step after Super Meet is Navy Nationals.

Matt Whitworth and the Alma High School choir for placing 14 students in the Arkansas All-State Choirs on Wednesday of last week. 14 choir all-stars is a new Alma High School record!
J. D. Finley for winning the 2008 Crawford County Spelling Bee, Alex Burris 1st runner-up and Mason Wight 3rd runner-up in the Spelling Bee. J.D. will compete in the State Competition in Little Rock on March 8th.

Results were: Gold Medals - Bench Press, Dead Lift & Double Combination: Kelly Moore, Joni Langley, Donald Huff, Jacob Brown, Alex Miller, Justin McGowen; Gold Medal - Bench Press: Charlie Shepherd; Silver Medal - Dead Lift & Combination: Charlie Shepherd; Bronze Medal - Dead Lift: Jodi Woodruff; Sit-Up Certificates: Alex Foster, Victoria Hale, Alex Miller, Joshua Moore, Patrick Poole.

Commander Rickard and NJROTC Orienteering/Land Navigation teams for the outstanding performance at Oak Mountain State Park, Pelham, Alabama. The teams finished 1st and 3rd in the intermediate course and 3rd in the advanced course. Tyla Stormes for placing 2nd in female intermediate course, Kyle Reinhart for placing 2nd in male advanced course, and Taryn Jones for placing 2nd in female advanced course.

Sara Wilson, third grade student at the Intermediate School, for winning the BancorpSouth’s Purchase Award at the Fort Smith Art Center’s Christmas Card Design Contest. Sara received a $100 prize for being chosen to appear on the bank’s Christmas cards.

Coach Hall and Cross Country Team for placing fifth at the State Meet in Hot Springs.
Coach Toney McMurray and the high school boys Tennis Team for finishing as AAAAA West Runner-ups and finished 4th overall in State. Beau Basham was named All-State and was the AAAAA Singles Runner-up and the AAAAA West Singles Champion for the 3rd year in a row.
Joyce Dahlem, 5th grade Social Studies teacher and Sabrina Landers, 4th grade teacher, for receiving their National Board Certification.

Matt Whitworth and the 29 Alma High School students who were selected to the All-Region Sr. Choirs this past Saturday. Of these 29, 21 are now qualified for the February All-State competition. 29 All-Region and 21 All-State qualifiers are new Alma High School records.
Sarah Jernigan, Opportunity School student, won the area wide essay contest sponsored by the Crisis Center of Women.
