Coach McMurray and Sr. High boys track team for winning the 5A West Conference track meet.
Coach Armer and Sr. High girls track team for being runner-ups at the 5A West Conference track meet.
Becky Warnock was honored with the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year.
Alma Middle School students qualifying for State Level Recognition on the Duke Talent Identification Program due to their results on the ACT college entrance exam are: Logan Jones, Kaela Cameron, Morgan Howells, Nathanial Michelson and Lacy Patterson. In addition, Logan Jones received the Grade Level Recognition for his score.
Kelsey Pope, seventh grade student at the middle school, won the Crawford County Spelling Bee and competed in the Arkansas Spelling Bee where she advanced to the fourth round of competition.
Alma Middle School History Day students who qualified at the state competition to compete in the National History Day competition this summer are Courtney Craft, Emily Taylor, Mallorie Higgins, Shelby Farris, Breanna Witherspoon and Greg Bowles. Ryan Medlock also placed third in the state competition is an alternate for national contest.
Nicole Williams, middle school teacher, was named the Junior High History Day Teacher of the Year at the State History Day competition.
Alma High School students who were recognized as All State athletes include Christine Thrift and Brett Hubbard in golf with Brett finishing second in the boys’ overall. All State Bowling honors went to Ashley Kiker, All State Basketball honorees were Dannah Kemp and Brian Evans.
Alma High School student Amanda Carr won first place at the state History Day competition and qualified to go to the National History Day this summer.
The following students from the high school DECA program were winners at the state DECA Career Development Conference and qualified for the national competition: Kristi Anderson, Chelsey Deal, Johnathon Dean, Amy Goodner, Tracey House, McKenzie Ingold, Deidra Jones, Michael Lech, Malena Outhey, Micah Parks, Molly Patterson, Ashton Peters, Venusa Phomakay, Grant Roe, Caitlyn Sears, Mariah Thomas, Katie Terry, Maggie Treece, Carleigh Valentine, Savannah Valentine, and Zack Valentine. Brea Broadfoot, Emily Davis and Catharine Stransky. Alma Middle School students also qualified for the nationals.
The Alma High School chapter won first place in the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Civic Consciousness Project and received the Diamond Level Membership Campaign. In addition the organization was recognized as the 2007 Arkansas DECA Chapter of the Year and Chelsey Dean was selected as state Vice-President of Communications.
Two Alma High School students will represent the school at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Atalie Mickelson and Sarah Davis will compete against over 1500 other science fair winners in this international competition. Other state science fair winners from the high school include: Vanusa Phomakay, Chris Thibault, Jessica Lind, Sasha Waid, Amanda Carr, Dustin Deshazo, Ashley Redo, Tania Schmitfranz, Malena Outhay, Ryan Carr, and Christina Thrift. Junior Academy of Science state winners are Ashton Peters, Venusa Phomakay, and Chris Thibault.
High School All State Choir members from Alma include Zach Whitworth, Britni Jones, Alexandra Whitlow, Erin Schlabach, Alyson Smith, Taylor Whitworth, Krystyn Francis, Lance St. Laurent, and Trevor Stewart.
Students receiving All State Band recognition are Devon Johnston, Cameron Word, Trevor Stewart, Lauren Schlabach, Brittan Darden, Justin Brown, Sarah Davis, Zack Whitworth and Patrick Mahoney.
During the Arkansas State Thespian Festival, several Alma High School drama students placed in the various state competition categories. Those students were C.J. Carr, Cameron Word, Jeffrey Johnson, Taylor Ward, Alexandra Whitlow, Cassie Patterson, Alexandra Wise, Allison Dean, Brendan Marshell, Cassie Mikel, Jackie Miller, Erin Mullins, Mariah Nonnemacher, Davey Romero, Erin Schlabach, and Lauren Schlabach. Erin Schlabach, Davey Romero and Cameron Word were chosen for All State Cast honors.
The following students who took part in the State Future Business Leaders of America competition and received state awards are Brendan Lee, Erin Schlabach, Julianne Damante, Lynsie Whitlow, Ryan Garrett and Ashton Peters, who was awarded scholarships. Brendan, Erin, Julianne and Lynsie qualified to attend the national competition in Chicago.

Coach Edwards and the Baseball team for winning the AAAAA-West Conference Championship. Their overall record was 25-6 with a 12-2 Conference record. They defeated Crossett in the first round of the state tournament, 7-0, and lost to Batesville in the quarterfinals by a score of 0-7.
Coach Parrish and the Softball team for finishing 2nd in the AAAAA-West Conference. Their overall record was 26-6 with a 12-2 Conference record.

Donna Grant and FBLA students who placed in state: Brendan Lee placed 1st, Erin Schlabach placed 2nd, Julianne Damante placed 2nd, Lynsie Whitlow placed 2nd. Brendan, Erin, Julianne and Lynsie also qualified for Nationals in Chicago. Ryan Garrett placed 3rd, Ashton Peters placed 3rd and 4th, Trevor Steward placed 5th. Ashton Peters won $1,300 in scholarships.
Stacy Hess and Partners Club for the great job they did and the following students for placing at the Special Olympic Track and Field event: Kelly Moore, Michael Ditzler, Joni Langley, Nichole Stadler, Marcus DeSantis, Patrick Poole, Victoria Hale, Sonya Allured, Brandie Israel, Alex Miller, Alex Foster, Amber Frazier, Donald Huff, Jacob Brown, Jodi Woodruff, Jacob Brown, Donald Huff.
Matt Whitworth and the Concert Choir for receiving an "Excellent" rating and the Honors Choir, the Honors Ladies Chorus, and the Honors Men's Chorus for all receiving "Superior" ratings at the State Choir competition this past Saturday. Also, for the first time in our state's history, "Best In Class" awards were given out for all categories of performing ensembles. The Alma High School Honors Choir took 5 of the 8 "Best In Class" awards available for 5A schools. The Honors Choir was awarded "Best In Class" Mixed Choir and Overall Large Group. The Honors Ladies were awarded the "Best In Class" Female Chorus. And the Honors Men were awarded "Best In Class" Male Ensemble and Overall Small Ensemble. These 5 "Best In Class" awards given to Alma were the most given to any school of any size at the State Competition.
Bill Ratcliff, Senior High and Middle School Bands for receiving superior ratings at the Region Band contest this weekend. This is the first time in several years that all four Alma Bands have received superior ratings at the same contest. This does not happen very often for any school district.

Sherry Siler and DECA students for receiving 1st place in 10 events; 2nd place in 9 events, 3rd place in 4 events, 4th place in 3 events, 5th place in 4 events, 6th place in 4 events at the DECA Career Development Conference, therefore winning the 2007 State DECA Chapter of the Year!
Matt Whitworth, Terri Whitworth, Katie Mankins and the 9 Alma Middle and High School Choirs. All nine groups received the highest possible score of "First Division--Superior" from ALL judges involved at the regional choir competition.

Matt Whitworth and 23 High School Choir students who were selected to the All-Region Choir on Saturday. 23 is a new Alma High School record. 13 of these students are also qualified for November's All-State Competition.

Coach McMurray “Conference Tennis Coach of the Year” and the Tennis team for winning the AAAAA West District tennis championship in Harrison. Beau Basham repeated as the boys singles champion and Alex Farran was a semi-finalist in the singles division. Good luck to Beau and Alex at the state tennis tournament in Arkadelphia. Also, congratulations to Kelby Ferguson, Molly Patterson, Meaghan Rollinson for winning matches in the district tournament.
Matt Whitworth, Terri Whitworth and the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade choir members for placing 83 students in the All-Region Choirs this past Saturday. 83 all-region choir members is a new Alma record and, to the best of our knowledge, a state record as well.
