Alma Intermediate School hosted its 5th Wax Museum on January 26, 2018, in the Safe Room. Fifth-grade students researched historical characters before making a decision on which person they wanted to study more deeply. Students then completed additional research to collect facts and determine the impact of that person’s life in American history.
Teachers facilitated the unit and assisted with costume selection and ideas. The school has a collection of costumes donated by parents and former students. Some students preferred to make their own costumes.
Teachers also selected a character and dressed in costume on the day of the Wax Museum. Third-grade students visited the Safe Room and heard presentations from fifth graders. Many parents and grandparents were also able to attend.
