Dance State Champions on the Way to Nationals
This November, the Alma High School Dance Team won the 2017 5A Arkansas Dance State Championship! The championship was held November 11th at Bentonville West High School. In order to win the state championship the team must compete in four styles of dance including jazz, kick, hip hop, and pom. The scores from each category are averaged to determine the dance state champion. This is the 4th State Championship for the Alma Dance Team. In the past 10 years the dance team has won 4 state titles and finished as the state runner-up 4 times. The remaining 2 years they placed 3rd.
This season the dance team went undefeated in their regular season winning 1st place in every dance category at every dance competition they attended. They also won two overall 1-7A “Outstanding Choreography” awards. The team looks forward to continuing their competition season at the National Dance Team Championship in Orlando, FL this February. They are honored to represent Alma at the event!
Team members are, Karsten Beneux, Devin Blazekovich, MacKenzie Buckner, Keely Burch, Brandon Combs, Katie Cox, Julia Dover, Grace Fuell, Brissa Gonzalez, Reagan Gray, Colton Gregory, Alissa James, Carsyn Jones, Donovan King, Hillarie Mata, Mallorie Mata, Camren Marshell, Maura Merida, Emilee Mlakar-Co-Captain, Rane Orrick, Sianna Raja, Katie Rogers, Payton Scrivner-Co-Captain, Dax Stahler, Kammie Wemhaner, Jake Westfall, Kelby Willhite, Emily Wright-Captain. Managers are Grace Bullard and Cooper McGee. Coaches are Brooke Brewer and Sara Murray.

Intermediate School Wax Museum
Alma Intermediate School hosted its 5th Wax Museum on January 26, 2018, in the Safe Room. Fifth-grade students researched historical characters before making a decision on which person they wanted to study more deeply. Students then completed additional research to collect facts and determine the impact of that person’s life in American history. Read more here and see our gallery of pictures.
Intermediate Honor Choir Sings National AnthemOur Intermediate School Honor Choir sang the National Anthem at a University of Arkansas Fort Smith basketball.
AMS RoboticsAlma Middle School Automation and Robotics Class is offered for 8th grade students. In this course, the students discover how various mechanical and electrical systems work together. They research the use of robots in today's world and how robotics may be used in the future. During this class, the students build a robot and program it to perform a task.The AMS Competition Robotics Team meets Tuesday and Thursday after school.
