Northwest Arkansas Regional Science Fair
Alma School District earned the honor of Best High School in the Region at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Science Fair held at the University of Arkansas on March 2, 2018.
Breanna Williams won the best 12th grade project and was selected as the overall first place project qualifying her to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, PA.

Next week Alma School District is hosting an eight person team of educators representing AdvancED, the national accreditation organization for K-12 schools. Alma School District has been fully accredited by AdvancEd for many years, and is currently the only school district in the River Valley to hold AdvancED accreditation. An on site review is conducted every five years to assure that the district is adhering to the high standards of education that AdvancED prescribes. Holding fully accredited status from AdvancED provides assurance that Alma School District subscribes to the highest standards of educational excellence and is constantly striving to provide the very best educational opportunities possible for the children of Alma.

Alma Middle School Robotics
Mrs. Dooley's Project Lead The Way Automation and Robotics Class visited the Innovation Hub in Little Rock on March 6. Students learned about Arduino microcontrollers, coding, graphic design, and various mediums to transfer graphics to other materials.
AMS Robotics also competed in the state Vex competition on March 3. This is their first year of competition and they finished 8th out of 25.
Chalk Access CodesIf you have not entered the one-time access code we sent out in January to verify your Chalk account, you will need to do this by March 16. You can contact the Media Specialist at your child's building if you do not have this access code or you can ask for it when you attend parent-teacher conferences on Wednesday, March 14. You will not be able to access your child's grades through Chalk after March 16, if you have not completed this process.
High School Social Media and Communications CourseWe have a new course this year at our high school which allows the students to create and market their own businesses. High School Social Media and Communications is learning about all the communication and marketing strategies involved in starting a business and promoting it through social media. The STAR graphic is one of the items they created as part of this class. Please read more about this course here.
Parent Teacher ConferencesParent Teacher Conferences will be held on March 14. School will dismiss at 1:30 pm. To find specific information for each building please see the informational messages that each building will be sending out and posting on Facebook and Twitter.
Art Class at Alma High SchoolBuddy Gray visited Ms. Jeremiah's drawings classes this past week and gave them feedback from the City Council and Alma Planning Committee on their thoughts of the sign designs her classes made. The class has been in the process of designing a "Welcome to Alma" sign for the mayor; they hope to have a finalized design soon.
Spring BreakAlma Schools will dismiss Friday, March 16 at 3:30 for spring break. School will resume on March 26. Wishing all of our Airedale Families an enjoyable and safe break.
Kindergarten Registration will take place on Wednesday, April 11th from 8:45-10:00 am and Thursday, April 19th from 5:00-6:00 pm.

School ChoiceMay 1st is the deadline to submit the application for School Choice. If you have friends or family that are interested in enrolling in Alma Schools, please pass this information on to them.
