Also congratulations to Ethan McKinley and Landon Medlock. They had the 2nd place overall project at the state science fair earning them an all expense paid trip to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh, PA.
Alma High school was also selected as a BEST IN STATE SCHOOL.
Alma High School entered the State Science Fair at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway with 44 Students. Alma High School did extremely well with twelve 4th places, two 3rd places ($100 award), one 2nd place ($200 award) and four 1st place awards ($300 award). We also had another project qualify for an all expense paid trip to the International Science Fair in Pittsburgh by winning 2nd place overall. These awards are very difficult to obtain at state because there are other schools where registered research institutions are easily attainable. For us to compete with them is amazing due to our limited access to these high level research facilities. The state science fair gives out 5 Best in State trophies for all classifications. They determine the winners by the points each school receives from placement in the categories, and the total score is divided by the number of students they brought. We received 3rd Overall Best in State with the largest number of students in attendance beaten only by the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science, and the Arts (ASMSA), and Little Rock Central.
