    School Choice- May 1st

    The school choice deadline is May 1st.  School Choice is the law that allows students who are non-residents of the Alma School District to apply to attend Alma.  If you have friends or family that are considering attending Alma, please pass this information on to them.  The application can be found online here. If you have questions about School Choice please contact Assistant Superintendent  Pamm Treece at 632-4791.

    Art Competition Winners


    The 2018 River Valley Student Art Competition award ceremony was held on Sunday, April 8th. Alma Middle School's Jasmine Dufresne placed first in Category 2 (Oil, Acrylic, or Watercolor Painting; Mrs. Pitts is her art teacher.  Two of Mrs. Rowden's students received honorable mention, Aryan Tapia in Category 1 (Pen & Ink, Pencil, Charcoal, Pastel, Crayon, or Marker) and Tyler Riley Category 3 (Mixed Media, 3D or Alternative).  Visit our Gallery of pictures here.



    Host Family

    Be A Host Family! It's easy to host! Here are the basics:

    Host family will receive $400 monthly 
    Host family will provide a bed and meals
    Host family will learn more about another culture first hand
    Student will attend Alma High School
    Student will become a part of your family
    Student is responsible for all school and extra expenses (going out with friends/clothing/souvenirs)
    Student will carry their own health and liability insurance

     State History Day

    Alma High School competed in the State History Day contest at the University of a Central Arkansas on Saturday, April 7. Students earning recognition were: 1st place - Senior Group Documentary: Cassidy Fritz and Nathan Painter (Chelsea Burdick, teacher), 2nd place - Senior Group Exhibit: Sidney Hatley and Charis Hutchinson (Stephanie Hall - teacher), 3rd place - Senior Individual Documentary: London Blackwell (Erin Mills - teacher), and Senior Individual Web Design: Morgan Farrar (Erin Mills, teacher).  AHS Social Studies teacher Mary Joslin was the recipient of the Mary J. Landreth Outstanding Teacher Award. 1st and 2nd place students advance to the national contest at the University of Maryland (June 9-14) with entry fee, transportation, and housing paid for by Arkansas History Day and the Arkansas Department of Heritage.

    We had two athletes signing their National Letter of Intent on Thursday, April 12 in the AHS Student Union.

    State Treasurer Visits Middle School

    State Treasurer Dennis Milligan visited the Middle School earlier this week to present certificates to students who had completed their Arkansas Finance Future Program course.

    Dance Show

    The Alma Dance Department presents "Sideshow" Saturday, April 28th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 29th at 2 p.m. at the Alma Performing Arts Center. The show is an original story of a circus troupe and their journey to present their circus show to the public. The show features over 300 Alma School District students performing all styles of dance as well as acrobatics and various circus acts! This family-friendly show is sure to be loved by all!
