    Alma Teacher of the Year

Alma School District had our Staff Convocation on Friday, May 18.  Representative Charlotte Douglas gave an enthusiastic charge to our faculty as they ended the year.  We recognized staff members for incremental years of service as well as recognizing our three retirees.

Also part of the ceremony was recognizing each campus's selection for Teacher of the Year.

    Alma Intermediate- Dawn Stewart
    Alma Middle- Tiffany Reeves

Jim Fincher, President of the Alma Arts in Education Foundation presented each building winner with a $200 check.  The overall winner also received an additional $500 check.  All of the building winners had to answer rather extensive writing prompts explaining their educational philosophy. They also went through an interview process with a panel of educators, that were from outside our district.  Our Alma School District Teacher of the Year is Erica Walters.  You can view the pictures and video from the event here.

    Retirees

We had three Alma School District retirees, which all happened to be Intermediate School teachers.  Their total years of teaching is ninety-nine years!  Wow what an incredible legacy they have provided to all of their students.  Cora Beth Brown, Joyce Dahlem and Jan Miller are three wonderful educations we wish well on their retirement. View our retiree video here.
