Alma Middle School will be holding its first Career Action Plan (CAPS) parent conferences this Spring on Thursday, March 28. This day will be solely devoted to CAPS Conferences beginning at 8:20 am and continuing until 7:00 pm. Report cards will be available at the conference.
AMS students will NOT report to school EXCEPT for a 20-minute CAPS Conference with their Advisory Teacher along with their parent or guardian. Failure to attend the CAPS Conference will count as an unexcused absence for the student for this day.
During this conference time, you and your 6th or 7th grade student will go over their selections for course requests for the next school year. Your student's Advisory Teacher will be available to assist you and answer questions. Eighth grade students will be looking at their college/career plans after high school and their results of the Holland Interest Inventory. After you complete the course requests, you can look through your student's Data Notebook and/or visit with your student's other teachers as they are available.
A form will be sent to you next week by email from your student’s Advisory teacher to submit your top three choices to schedule your student’s conference. If you do not receive the email, or cannot complete the form through email, a paper copy will be sent home on Friday, March 8. You can also get one by calling and requesting a copy from the school at 632-2168. All scheduling of conferences will be on a first come, first served basis.
