Dr. Bryan Duffie

Superintendent

Bryan grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and graduated from high school at West Monroe High School in West Monroe, LA. He attended college at the University of Central Arkansas where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Education and a Master's Degree in School Leadership, Management, and Administration. Bryan continued his educational journey at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN where he received his Doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy. He began his teaching career in 1992 at North Little Rock High School as a math teacher. Thirteen years later, he moved on to Westside Consolidated School District in Jonesboro where he served as middle school and high school principal for five years and later as the Superintendent for an additional six years. After leaving Jonesboro, he went on to serve in the newly-created Jacksonville North Pulaski School District, where he served as Assistant Superintendent for one year and Superintendent for four years. This is Bryan's first year with Alma School District. He will be acting as the Deputy Superintendent up until Mr. Woolly's retirement. The two will work alongside one another to ensure a smooth transition when Bryan becomes Superintendent for ASD.

Bryan is married and has two sons. He enjoys outdoor activities, including golf, hiking, and woodworking.

Dr. Stacie Wood

Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning

Stacie Wood is beginning her 23rd year in education. She is starting her third year as the Alma High School, assistant principal. She has served as principal at Parkview Elementary School in Van Buren for ten years. Prior to this she served as assistant principal at Alma Primary School for one year. Prior to her educational leadership experience, she taught fifth grade at Central Middle School, third grade, and intervention at Tate Elementary and was an instructional facilitator at Northridge Middle School.

Stacie is a 1994 graduate of Alma High School. She earned a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a  Master’s in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University. She holds a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership: Superintendency from Arkansas State University and completed her doctorate degree this past summer at Arkansas State. 

In 2013, Dr. Wood was recognized as the Arkansas Administrator of the Year, by the state Parent/Teacher Organization. In 2014, Wood completed the Principal’s Leader to Leader Academy, for excellence in Educational Leadership at Arkansas Tech University.

Stacie is married to James Wood, a 1995 graduate of Alma High School.  James is a Captain with the Fort Smith Fire Department. They live on a small farm in Alma, with their two sons, Zayne, who is a senior this year and Gus, who is in fourth grade.

Travis Biggs

Assistant Superintendent of Operations & Support Services

Travis grew up in Barling, Arkansas and attended the Fort Smith Public Schools, graduating from Northside High School. He then earned an Associates degree from Westark Community College, Bachelors in Education from Arkansas State University, Masters in Education Administration from Arkansas Tech, Masters in Athletic Administration from East Central Oklahoma and a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. This is Travis’ 4th year in the Alma School District. He previously spent a 22-year-career with Fort Smith Schools. During his time in Fort Smith, he was a teacher and coach at Chaffin, Ramsey and Southside High School. He also served 11 years as an Assistant Principal at Southside High School and 1 year as Supervisor of Construction and Maintenance for the Fort Smith School District.
