The Pre-SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is a test given in October of each year to 10th and 11th grade students. The primary purpose of the test is to qualify as a National Merit Scholar. Juniors are given one attempt with the PSAT/NMSQT. Sophomores are allowed to take the PSAT/NMSQT for practice. This assessment will predict a score on the SAT, as well, which can be used for college admissions purposes.
The PSAT/NMSQT is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2020. The assessment costs $16, and fee waivers are available to juniors who qualify.
Scores are available to students online in December, with paper copies available in January. The National Merit Scholarship cut-off scores are determined and released in July of the following year.
Students will sign up in the Alma High School Counseling Office.
