Alma Participates in the Crawford County Spelling Bee
-
Alma students in grades 3-8 have the opportunity to compete in the Crawford County Spelling Bee, which is held in January of each year. Students first compete in classroom spelling bees in order to advance to school-level bees. Teachers provide information and study lists to interested students for the classroom and school-level bees.
Students must place as one of the top 4 spellers in their school bee in order to compete in the Crawford Spelling Bee. Students from Alma, Cedarville, Mountainburg, Mulberry, and Van Buren schools compete in the county bee. The winner of the county spelling bee advances to the Arkansas Spelling Bee, which is sponsored by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and is typically held on the University of Central Arkansas campus in Conway. The winner of the Arkansas Spelling Bee advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
