Mrs. Mary Thicksten

Mrs. Thicksten is beginning her 16th year in education. A graduate of Van Buren High School, she has a Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication and Film from the University of Alabama, and a Master's in Library and Information Sciences from the University of Oklahoma. She began her career at Pea Ridge High School, teaching AP Literature, AP Language and Composition, English III and Drama/Theater. She then taught Language Arts at Bentonville High School for four years, including English I, English II Pre-AP, English II Inclusion, English IV, and History of Film. She then served as Library Media Specialist at Bentonville High School for nine years, and is also Nationally Board Certified. Mrs. Thicksten is now thrilled to serve as Library Media Specialist at Alma High School. She is married to Chris Thicksten, a 2001 graduate of AHS, and they have two children who attend school in Alma.
