Marcy graduated from Lamar High School in Johnson County, Arkansas, where she grew up. She obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science/Social Studies Education and a minor in English from the University of the Ozarks in 1995. Marcy began her teaching career at Johnson County Westside High School. In her twenty-six years in education, she has taught English/Language Arts 7-9, Pre-AP Language Arts 7/8, Journalism, World History, Civics, Economics, Geography, U.S. History, and Global Studies. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and joined the Alma School District in 2003.

Marcy, who has been married to her husband Joe for 27 years, resides in Ozark. They have two daughters.
