The Alma Lady Airedales’ strong volleyball play on their home floor ended Thursday night.
Greenbrier (25-6, 12-0) made sure of that.
The Panthers put a dent in Alma’s postseason plans with a 25-16, 25-11, 25-19 victory at Charles B. Dyer Arena.
Alma will close out its 2021 home schedule this coming Tuesday against Greenwood.
Mia Nichols led Alma (9-19, 4-8) with six kills.
“I think we’ve turned a corner mentally, in regards we know what it takes to be successful,” Weaver said. “We’re coming to terms of how much it requires. think we understand this is where we want to be; (but) this is who we are.
“That’s going to frame out the off-season really well.”
Win or lose Tuesday, Alma will close out its home slate with a winning conference mark at home.
The Lady Airedales are 4-2 at home in conference play. Weaver’s crew also has three more wins in 2021 than her first season of 2020.
“Regardless of whether or not we make state or go to the playoffs, it’s more opportunities on the court,” Weaver said. “You can’t replicate that in the off-season, so we can’t stop utilizing the time we have to get better.
“That’s our intent.”
Also for Alma, Rachel James had four kills and 13 assists, and Jenna Williams and Rebekah McIntosh finished with three kills apiece. Williams led the team with 15 digs.
James and Jocelyn Harless had seven digs each.
Alma concludes regular-season play on Oct. 21 at Mountain Home.
