SOFTBALL Alma went from jubilation to frustrated in a matter of moments Tuesday night in 5A-West softball action.

Mountain Home pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to cap a 4-3 win over the Lady Airedales and a sweep of their conference doubleheader.

Mountain Home (3-1, 2-0) won the first game, 3-0.

Alma's Taelyn Perry and Makenzie Martin clubbed back-to-back homers in the top of the seventh to tie the game. The junior standouts combined for eight hits on the day, with Perry finishing 5-for-7.

Senior Jacklyn Petree suffered the loss, her first of the spring. She allowed eight hits and struck out four.

BASEBALL Mountain Home's Jacob Czanstkowski singled home Reece Ducker with the winning run to cap a late rally in the Bombers' 4-3 win over the Airedales in the first game of their 5A-West doubleheader.

Mountain Home (2-4, 2-0) won the nightcap, 10-0, behind Czanstkowski's two-hit shutout.

Alma (1-4, 0-2) took a 2-1 lead in the top of the ninth on Derek Hatcher's RBI double. Starting pitcher Logan Taylor followed with an RBI single for a 3-1 lead.

Taylor pitched the first eight innings, striking out three and allowing four hits before, by rule, being taken out of the game. Regulations limit high school pitchers to eight innings in a single day.

Taylor and Josiah Weaver hit safely in the nightcap. Sophomore Noah Likens suffered the loss.

Coach Brian Fry's squad travels to Fayetteville Thursday and Southside Friday before resuming 5A-West play Tuesday against Vilonia.
