Baseball, softball get new scoreboards-04/29/2021
By Kevin Taylor
Citizens Bank President Brent Taylor loves giving back to his former school. He shares a love for Crawford County, too.
"To be honest, it's not always about notoriety or getting our name on something," Taylor said. "It's making sure that the kids in Alma and all the surrounding schools in Crawford County have stuff to be proud of. We feel like that's part of our responsibility.
"We want to pour capital into our schools so they can have things to really be proud of."
Citizens Bank has its name prominently stamped on Alma's turfed football and soccer stadium. This spring, they also created two new scoreboards for baseball and softball.
"Both of the scoreboards are the latest technology from Raney Electronics," Alma Athletics Director Doug Loughridge said. "The nine-inning LED boards give a pop to the facility with a classy structure that really dresses up our stadiums."
Taylor and Citizens recently upgraded the old scoreboard at Crabtree Gym, too.
"It's especially close to my heart, since I'm a graduate of Alma, and with my kids going to school here," Taylor said. "It's always a goal of Citizens to pour as much money back into our community. That's in the form of scoreboards, turf, cooking hamburgers ... we want to make sure we're out front always doing something for kids.
"Most of the things we do, it's always kid-oriented."
"The support for the Alma Athletic programs and the Alma School District as a whole that we get from local businesses is second to none," Loughridge said. "Citizens Bank is a longtime supporter of our school district in every way. The Advertising and Promotion Commission has taken pride in giving back to our community with all the weakened travel tournaments and youth sports that are hosted in Alma.
"On any given weekend, we have over 80 teams and 800 families in our city, which bring revenue to our businesses."
