Alma ninth-graders top Gravette
Alma 22, Gravette 12
Camden Curd threw two touchdown passes to Brayden Driscoll and Israel Towns-Robinson had a 58-yard touchdown run to help Alma’s ninth-graders to a 22-12 win over Gravette Thursday.
Curd threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Driscoll to put Alma ahead, 6-0, in the second quarter. Towns-Robinson’s TD and Curd’s 2-point pass to Miles Kendrick put the Airedales ahead, 14-0.
Curd’s 60-yard TD pass to Driscoll made it 22-0. Driscoll caught four passes for 147 yards.
Curd completed 7-of-9 passes for 163 yards while leading the team to a second straight win.
The Airedales (2-0) amassed 258 yards of offense on just 26 plays. Caleb Parker led the winners with eight tackles.
Caden Farris and Jackson McMurray stayed hot Thursday with an 8-2 doubles victory over Russellville’s Zane Russell and Landon Meimerstorf at the Toney McMurray Memorial Tennis Courts.
Likewise, Colby Kimmons and Shivam Raja also remained hot with an 8-5 victory over the Cyclones’ Dev Donda and Brooks Burk.
Landon Coursey and Josh Smith dropped their doubles match, 8-5.
Sophomore Marti Lineberry earned a 6-0 singles victory in girls’ play.
Alma 7th graders win
The Alma Airedales’ seventh-grade football team defeated Gravette Thursday, 6-0, on the strength of Luke Stogsdill’s 61-yard TD run.
Chase Parker had four tackles and one TFL (tackles for lost yardage). Carson Curd and Triston Nutt recovered fumbles.
Quarterback Lawson Adams completed both of his passes for 29 yards, with Landon Taylor and Josiah Stallings hauling in passes of 15 and 14 yards, respectively.
