Alma JV rolls, 30-7
Jackson Daily threw for 93 yards and a touchdown and Eric Dover had 108 yards rushing and a pair of touchdowns in Alma’s 30-7 win over Poteau in junior varsity football.
Demetrius Parish caught two passes for 43 yards and a touchdown for the winners. Derek Hatcher had three catches for 30 yards. Braxton Kilgore had one reception for 12 yards and Trenton Thompson added 23 yards on the ground.
Sophomore Kayden Lamb had a reception for 8 yards.
Defensively, Ian Rhoads had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery. Keyshawn Rhodes finished with seven tackles.
Alma volleyball falls, 3-0
The Lady Airedales dropped a 25-12, 25-13, 25-9 decision to Greenbrier Tuesday in 5A-West play, dropping Alma to 2-3 in 5A-West play.
Jenna Williams and Rachel James led the Lady Airedales with four kills apiece. James finished with nine assists.
Laila Boyd had 13 digs for the Lady Airedales.
Alma travels to Greenwood Thursday.
Alma’s Josh Smith and Landon Coursey rallied for an 8-6 doubles win over Van Buren’s Jackson Cervantas and Travis Bushnag in boys tennis action Tuesday.
Alma’s Adam Carter and Nick Lanich won their doubles match as well, 8-4.
Jackson McMurray and Caden Farris dropped a two-set decision, 6-2, 6-3.
Van Buren’s Parker Seewald defeated Alma’s No. 1 singles player, Logan Evans, 6-2, 6-3.
Airedale 8th graders fall
Chaffin’s eighth-grade football team defeated the Airedales Tuesday, 20-0.
Timothy Plourde led the Airedales with 102 yards rushing on 20 carries. Austin Davilla added 51 yards and Wesley Patterson finished with nine yards rushing on carries.
Patterson and Davilla had three tackles each and an interception. Plourde, Aiden Holdcraft, Randall Waggoner, and Caleb Liles finished with two tackles each.
Alma 7th grade wins
The Airedales’ seventh-grade football team made it three wins in four games with a solid 13-0 shutout of Fort Smith Chaffin Tuesday.
Quarterback Chase Parker got the scoring started with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Luke Stogsdill in the first half.
Izaac Plourde finished with 81 yards and a touchdown for the winners. Daniel Rodriguez booted the extra point to give the Airedales a 13-0 second-half lead.
