Richmond (Mo.) 59, Alma 49 

 

BOYS — Alma coach Dominic Lincoln got maximum effort from the Airedales for the better part of three-quarters Thursday. 

 

Then, as had been the case for the past three games, the Airedales came up empty in the fourth quarter. 

 

Richmond junior Jack Gogue scored 21 points on 10-of-12 shooting and the Spartans outscored the Airedales, 16-6, over the final quarter for a 59-49 win at the Mustang Classic in Anderson, Mo. 

 

Alma (3-4) will face McDonald County today. 

 

Richmond bolted ahead, 7-0, and led by as many as eight (17-9) when Alma caught fire from beyond the arc. Senior Logan Taylor hit three of the team’s nine first-half 3-pointers as Alma battled back for an 18-17 lead. 

 

Richmond led 33-31 at halftime. 

 

Senior Daniel Howard finished with a career-high 15 points. Despite scoring just 12 points in the paint, Alma was 12-for-27 from the 3-point line. 

 

Demetrio Cerda finished with 11 points. Taylor had 12 on 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. 

 

Alma scored 25 points via 20 Richmond turnovers. The Airedales led 43-38 late in the third quarter before the Spartans closed the game on a 21-6 push. 

 

Alma bowlers top Greenwood   

 

The Alma Airedales’ boys bowling team defeated Greenwood Thursday. Alma finished with 1,678 pins to Greenwood’s 1,589. 

 

Senior Zeke Nichols bowled a 404 (214-190) to pace the winners. Dayton Hopp bowled a 350 (186-164), and Trentin Sanderson bowled a 324 (201-123). 

 

Jaden Parker bowled a 251, and Jasper Stockton and Jacob Dollard bowled a 164. 

 

The Lady Airedales dropped a close match, 1,434 to 1,356. 

 

Mia Nichols led Alma with a 244 (119-125). Kristen Lindley and Shalei Qualls bowled a 255 and 247, respectively. 

 

Sarah Banks and Emily Hatley bowled a 213 and 211. Maddy Click bowled a two-game score of 186. 

 

Farmington 42, Alma JH 21 

 

GIRLS — Farmington defeated the Alma junior high Lady Airedales, 42-21, Thursday night.  

 

Leah Tally had seven points to lead the Lady Airedales with seven points. Jadeon Gramlich had six points and Zoey Kimes and Daimya Parker had four and three, respectively. 

 

Haven Welch added two points for the Lady Airedales.

 

Farmington 62, Alma 8th 36

 

GIRLS — The Alma Lady Airedales’ eighth-grade team dropped a 62-36 decision to Farmington Thursday. 

 

Chloe Gregory led Lady Airedales with 13 points. Avery Dorey had nine points and Jaidon Humphrey finished with four points.   

 

Farmington 40, Alma JH 35

 

BOYS — Farmington scored the game’s final five points for a tough 40-35 win over the Airedales’ junior high team Thursday. 

 

Camden Curd and Israel Towns-Robinson had eight points each for the Airedales. 

 

The Alma eighth graders lost as well. Will Scott led the way with 13 points. 

 

 

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear, and that's exactly what AHS Chamber Choir did this week! They went from room to room and sang Christmas carols for their classmates.
