Alma JH track team takes second at Waldron Relays

The Airedales’ junior high boys and girls track teams competed in the Waldron Junior Relays on Tuesday.
Both teams finished second overall.
Eli Pellam won the 100 and 200 meters, respectively, with times of 12.5 and 24.51. He was fourth (19-1) in the long jump.
Eli Waldrop won the shot put (46-5).
Caleb Parker, Ayden Parker, Ashton Chanhnouvong, and Byron Standridge won the 800 relay (1:41.87).
Ayden Parker, Chanhnouvong, Byron Standridge, and Fowler Gossow won the 1600 relay with a time of 3:58.80.
Pellam, Chanhnouvong, Standridge, and Israel Towns-Robinson won the 400 relay (46.57). Towns-Robinson was second in the shot put (44-5) and eighth in the 200.
Also for Alma, Ayden Parker was fourth (57.70) in the 400; Chanhnouvong was seventh in the triple jump, and Talon Chronister won the 110 hurdles (18.44) and was fifth in the 300 hurdles and long jump.
Gossow, Josh Releford, Jonathan Kelley, and Owen McCoy (eighth-grader) placed fourth (10:31.34) in the 3200 relay.
Alma was second with 104 points.
The Lady Airedales scored 98 points while placing second out of 18 teams. Zoye Wofford won the 400 (1:07.24). Wofford, Kiara Owens, Jaidon Humphrey, and McKinzey Berna won the 800 relay (1:59.42).
Humphrey, an eighth-grader, was third (1:08.67) in the 400.
Owens, Chloe Gregory, Kenadie Faris, and Nayeli Acosta were second (56.07) in the 400 relay. Acosta was third in the 100 014.04) and third in the 200 (28.94).
Jaidan Moulder, Nevaeh Kangas, Freedom Wilson, and Elena Frantzen were second (11:46) in the 3200 relay.
Frantzen, an eighth-grader, was third (6:11.15) and third in the 800 (2:46.28).
Seventh-grader Faith Sartor was fourth (33-11) in the shot put.
Also for the Lady Airedales, Owens, Farris, Wofford and Haylei Moses placed sixth (4:59.77) in the 1600 relay.
Wilson took fourth in the pole vault (6-6); Gregory placed fifth in the 100 hurdles and sixth in the high jump; Owens was fifth in the triple jump; Elena Nevaeh Kangas was fifth in the 1600; Farris seventh in the high jump; and Berna, also an eighth-grader, was eighth in the long jump.
The Alma Lady Airedales’ soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Greenwood on Tuesday in 5A-West play.
Senior keeper Olivia Spears had six saves, including a penalty kick save.
Alma had three shots, including one on goal.
The Airedales’ boys team dropped a 4-0 decision. Alma had five shots in all, including one on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Julian Davilia had five saves.
Alma will host Mountain Home Friday, starting with a 4 p.m. junior varsity boys match.
