Hunter McAlister fulfilled one of his lifetime goals this week by signing a letter of intent with Williams Baptist University.

“It’s something I always dreamed about when I was a kid,” McAlister said. “To think that this happened is kind of crazy. It’s pretty cool; it's playing at the next level. The signing was really good and there were a lot of people there supporting me.”

McAlister led the Airedales in almost every offensive category in 2021-22, including points per game, rebounds, and blocked shots.

McAlister averaged 12.1 points per game, including 7.6 rebounds per outing. He also had 22 blocks.

McAlister played for both Stan Flenor (who retired in 2021) and Dominic Lincoln. The Airedales finished 6-19 during Lincoln’s first season.

“I think we could have had a better season this year, but the team chemistry that we built this year, I think we set a great foundation with coach Lincoln. He’s going to do great things in the next couple of years.”

McAlister had a career-high 23 points and 11 rebounds during the team’s 72-65 win over Lincoln back on Nov. 23. He had a big night during Alma’s road win over Greenwood on Jan. 25, scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.

WBU finished 15-12 last season, including 7-9 in the American Midwest Conference.
