Third Grader Emmalee Alewine's Artwork to be Exhibited at Windgate Museum of Art

Ms. Jordan’s third-grade class at Alma Intermediate School has a talented artist among them. Emmalee Alewine has been awarded the opportunity to have her art displayed at the Windgate Museum of Art at Hendrix College in Conway. The museum opened a call for art submissions from Arkansas students from kindergarten to 12th grade. They sought 2D artworks in any medium that depict an eclipse, the cosmos, the solar system, or human interaction with space.

After a rigorous jurying process, 80 pieces were selected from all grades, and Emmalee's artwork was one of them. From February 3, 2024, selected artworks will be on display in the museum window galleries. The Moon and Beyond is a part of the WMA's celebration of eclipses leading up to the April 8 total solar eclipse occurring in Central Arkansas. The exhibition, In the Shadow of the Moon, will open on January 26 at 5 p.m and run through April 13, 2024.

Emmalee and her family will be honored at a reception on Saturday, February 3, from 1-3 p.m., where they will receive an award certificate and a limited-edition eclipse poster. Congrats Emmalee on this amazing achievement! We'd also like to extend our gratitude to Mrs. Weir for introducing this incredible opportunity to you.
