HONORS ALGEBRA II/GRADES 10-11: 1 CREDIT HONORS 4.5 - 432001

Honors Algebra II covers the same topics as Algebra II with the emphasis on preparing the student for Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry. Emphasis is on understanding mathematical concepts both algebraically and graphically and being able to apply concepts in a variety of situations. Students should have passed Algebra I and Geometry with a grade of A or B and have teacher recommendation to take this course.

QUANTITATIVE LITERACY/GRADES 11-12: 1 CREDIT - 439120

Quantitative Literacy builds upon Algebra I to explore mathematical topics and relationships. Unit topics include modeling and mathematical concepts, numerical reasoning, statistics and probability, personal financial literacy, and business financial literacy. This course will meet the financial literacy requirements set by the Arkansas Department of Education.

ALGEBRA III/GRADES 11-12: 1 CREDIT - 439070

Algebra III is a college prep course for students who have passed both Geometry and Algebra II. The instruction covers a wide variety of topics that a first year college student would typically encounter in a College Algebra course. In addition to reviewing some basic algebra skills, students will be studying functions in great detail including linear functions, systems of equations, quadratics, radical equations, inverse and composite functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and higher degree polynomials. This course is specifically for students who have not scored 19 in Math on the ACT.

CONCURRENT COLLEGE MATH/COLLEGE ALGEBRA/GRADES 11-12: 2 CREDITS HONORS 4.5 - 539980

College Math/College Algebra is a concurrent course through Arkansas Tech University intended for non-math or non-science majors. College Math focuses on the math of contemporary life and covers topics such as planning and scheduling schemes, data analysis, probability, and various growth models. The course will cover a study of functions and models, linear equations and inequalities, transformations of graphs and symmetry, quadratic functions, piecewise functions, inverse functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, and composite functions, logarithmic equations, and polynomial functions. Students will complete both semesters of the course to get their required math credit. Students who complete this class will receive six hours of college credit. Students must have completed Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II and have an ACT score of 19 or above on the Mathematics AND Reading portions.

CONCURRENT COLLEGE ALGEBRA/PLANE TRIGONOMETRY/ GRADES 11-12: 2 CREDITS HONORS 4.5 - 539940

College Algebra/Plane Trigonometry is a concurrent course through Arkansas Tech University and is intended for students who are planning to take AP Calculus at Alma High School or Calculus I in college. College Algebra covers a study of functions and models, linear equations and inequalities, transformations and graphs of symmetry, quadratic functions, piecewise functions, inverse functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, composite functions, and polynomial functions. Plane Trigonometry is a study of the properties of trigonometric functions and their graphs, solutions of right and oblique triangles, formulas and identities, inverse functions, and trigonometric equations. Students will complete both semesters of the course to get their math credit. Students who complete this class will receive 6 hours of college credit. Students must have completed Honors Algebra II with a grade of A or B or have teacher recommendation in order to take this course. Students must also have an ACT score of 19 or above on the Mathematics AND Reading portions in order to be eligible for the course.

AP CALCULUS/ GRADE 12: 1 CREDIT HONORS 5.0 - 534040

AP Calculus is a rigorous course equivalent to Calculus I in college. Students will study limits, derivatives, and integrals using a variety of functions. Emphasis is on developing a strong conceptual knowledge of calculus through graphical, numerical, and algebraic techniques. Extensive outside work is required as well as participating in the AP examination. A TI-84 calculator is recommended. Students must have completed College Algebra/Plane Trigonometry to take this course.
