SOCIAL STUDIES: WORLD HISTORY, US HISTORY, AND CIVICS/ECONOMICS REQUIRED
WORLD HISTORY/GRADE 10: 1 CREDIT - 471000 | World History provides an in-depth study of the history of human society after the year 1450. This course develops an understanding of the historical roots of current world issues, especially as they pertain to international/global relations. It requires an understanding of world cultures and civilizations, including an analysis of important ideas, social and cultural values, beliefs, and traditions. Students will complete a research project based on the current History Day theme. This project will be completed in the fall and may be improved upon to compete in the National History Day competition. |
HONORS WORLD HISTORY/GRADE 10: 1 CREDIT HONORS 4.5 - 471001 | Honors World History is an advanced study of the history of human society after the year 1450. This course develops an understanding of the historical roots of current world issues, especially as they pertain to international/global relations. It requires an understanding of world cultures and civilizations, including an analysis of important ideas, social and cultural values, beliefs, and traditions. All students are required to compete in National History Day. |
UNITED STATES HISTORY/GRADE 11: 1 CREDIT - 470000 | United States History covers the history of the United States since 1890 and examines the emergence of the United States as a world power from that point until the present. Students will examine the political, economics, geographic, social, and cultural development of the USA. Students will complete a research project based on the current History Day theme. The project will be completed in the fall and may be improved upon to complete in National History Day competition. |
AP UNITED STATES HISTORY/GRADE 11: 1 CREDIT HONORS 5.0 - 570020 | AP US History is a fast paced study of American history from 1491 to the present. APUSH is designed to take an interpretive, analytical, and argumentative approach to studying American history with strong emphasis on developing historical writing skills. Students are required to take the AP US History exam which allows students to receive college credit with a score of 3 or better. National History Day participation is also required. Students interested in taking APUSH should have taken Honors World History or have a teacher referral. |
CIVICS/ECONOMICS WITH PERSONAL FINANCE/GRADE 12: 1 CREDIT - 472000/474300 | Civics is a study of the branches of the United States government and its political process. Economics explores interrelationships among consumers, producers, resources, and labor and relationships between national and global economies and includes units on personal financial literacy as well. The Economics with Personal Finance portion meets financial literacy requirements set by the Arkansas Department of Education. Students will conduct a research project or participate in National History Day. |
HONORS CIVICS/ECONOMICS WITH PERSONAL FINANCE/GRADE 12: 1 CREDIT HONORS 4.5 - 472001/474301 | Honors Civics/Economics will go deeper and at a faster pace than the survey version of the course. Honors Civics will cover the branches of the United States government, their functions, and their relationships to one another in order for political processes to be carried out. Honors Economics will explore the economic systems across the world and how they interact with one another. Personal financial literacy will also be completed. The Economics with Personal Finance portion of the course meets financial literacy requirements set by the Arkansas Department of Education. Students will be required to participate in National History Day. |
