Jen Lyon has been working in the field of education since 2006. She began her teaching career at Morrilton Primary School where she taught first grade. She then spent 16 years in Fort Smith Public Schools where she served as a kindergarten teacher at Barling Elementary, library media specialist at Tilles Elementary, and the final three years as Assistant Principal of Fairview Elementary. 

Mrs. Lyon holds an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University as well as an Educational Specialist Degree in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri. She received her Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Arkansas Tech University in 2008. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arkansas Tech University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. She is proud to be a National Board Certified teacher. Mrs. Lyon is passionate about supporting the academic needs of students as well as building a school culture that is safe, supportive, and collaborative.

Lauren Self has been a dedicated part of the Alma School District for the past nine years. She began her journey at Alma Intermediate, where she taught 4th and 5th grade for four years. She then brought her passion for numbers to Alma Middle School, teaching 8th-grade math for three years. After that, she served as the counselor at Alma Primary School for one year. Now in her second year as Assistant Principal at Alma Intermediate, Lauren continues to make a lasting impact on students and staff alike through her leadership and commitment to education.

Mrs. Self obtained a Bachelor of Science in Middle-Level Education from Arkansas State University in 2016. She then pursued a Master of Education in School Counseling & Leadership from Arkansas Tech University. She received an Educational Specialist in School Leadership in 2021. 

Mrs. Self's passions as an educator are rooted in making all stakeholders feel heard and valued while maintaining an effective culture of structured support and shared vision. She is dedicated to the Alma community and is driven by her desire to see it thrive.
