Alma School District has announced the promotion of Paul Syrock to Transportation Director. He will succeed Mr. Rutherford, who will retire in December.
Syrock has served as a mechanic with the district since June 2007. During his 19 years of service, he has played an instrumental role in maintaining the safety and reliability of the district’s bus fleet.
“Paul has dedicated 19 years of service to the Alma School District and has played an instrumental role in keeping our bus fleet safe, reliable, and running smoothly. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role as Transportation Director, and I couldn’t be more excited to see him take this next step in serving our district and community,” said Dr. Reeves, Assistant Superintendent.
As he prepares to assume his new position, Syrock looks forward to developing new working relationships while maintaining the connections he has built throughout his career. He expressed appreciation for the Transportation Department’s willingness to work together and do what is needed to care for students traveling to and from school and activities.
Syrock plans to bring the same dedication to his new role that has guided his service to the district for nearly two decades.
A longtime Alma resident, Syrock moved to the community 36 years ago after marrying his wife, Melissa, an Alma native. Their daughter, Jessica, graduated from Alma High School in 2025. Outside of work, he enjoys camping and motorcycle rides.
Alma School District congratulates Syrock on his promotion and extends its appreciation to Mr. Rutherford for his service and leadership.
