Our community is highly diverse, and this is reflected in the student populations we serve, including those receiving special education services. Like any other group, they and their families receive our full support. Over the years, we have partnered with the Arkansas Department of Education – Special Education Unit and state service organizations to provide tailored assistance to our students and their diverse needs. Our office is here to help you work with your students and create effective and appropriate programming for them.
We are committed to providing eligible students special education and related services as stipulated in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). We ensure that students aged 3-21 receive a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment possible. Our dedicated special services educators strive to build strong relationships and offer high-quality services and support to students, in partnership with parents, families, and education staff.
Alma School District is responsible for locating, identifying, and evaluating any children with known or suspected disabilities who reside within the school district's boundaries to determine whether a need for special education and related services exists.
