Golfers second at Harrison

Alma Schools

The Alma Lady Airedales boys' golf team finished second at the Harrison Invitational this week.

Chase Wood led the Airedales with a 77. Grady Farmer and Carson Curd both shot 79, and Jack Taylor and Parker Moreland shot 80s.

Earlier in the week, Alma won a tri-match with Greenwood and Van Buren at Ben Geren Golf Course.

Farmer and Curd helped Alma to a 10-stroke win over Van Buren by shooting 77 and 78. As a team, the Airedales shot 319.

Greenwood was a distant third with a 348.

Also for Alma, Moreland Wood shot 81 and 83, while Curd and Silas Dumond shot 84 and 88. Alma’s Cade Moore shot a 98.

The Airedales face Southside Thursday at Ben Geren, then will host the 5A-West match Sept. 3 at Eagles Crest.

Volleyball

The Lady Airedales swept a benefit match from Rogers Heritage on Thursday.

The junior varsity team won, 25-19, 25-15. The varsity squad earned a 25-20, 27-25, 25-18 victory.

The Airedales officially open the 2025 season on Monday at Charleston. The team will play back-to-back home matches against Pottsville and Ozark before heading back on the road to battle Mena and Clarksville.

Cross Country

The Alma Airedales cross country team will open its 2025 season Sept. 2 at Rogers, with a 7 p.m. run.

The 5A-West meet is slated for Oct. 30 at Mountain Home.
