Airedales' 8th graders pummel Panthers, earn second victory

The Alma Airedales' eighth-grade football team defeated Clarksville this week, 38-16, for their second victory in three games.

Braxton Price scored three touchdowns and finished with 90 yards rushing for the winners. Price scored on TD runs of 12, 11, and 14 yards to pace the Airedales.

Jenson Cahoon added a 20-yard touchdown run and a pair of 2-point conversion runs.

Also for Alma, Jagger Harman added a 25-yard touchdown run and a 2-point conversion run. The Airedales’ Benjamin Bowles added a 2-point conversion run.

Volleyball

The Alma Airedales dropped a 25-23, 25-18, 25-11 decision to Greenwood Tuesday in 5A-West action.

The Lady Airedales, 5-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play, host Harrison on Thursday.

Alma finished 1-2 at a tournament last weekend, beating Harrisburg and Searcy before falling to Bryant.

Golf

The Alma boys and girls golf teams competed against Greenwood and Van Buren this week.

Competing in a nine-hole event, Silas Dumas and James Faries shot 42, and Cade Moore followed with a 43.

Junior Ellie Reeves shot a PR 44 and was the medalist. Eslee Travis and Chloe Haught fired a 57 and 62, respectively.

Sept. 18, 1982

Skipper Thompson dashed 69 yards for a touchdown and Darren Wright added a 44-yard TD scamper as the Airedales defeated Sallisaw, 17-7, at Airedale Stadium. Kevin Ross’ 50-yard reception led to Rodney Vanover’s FG to account for the final points.
