Sam Schlegel caught six passes for 89 yards and moved into a second-place tie on the school's all-time receiving list Friday as the Alma Airedales closed out their home schedule with a 40-0 win over the Clarksville Panthers.

Schlegel needs one more reception to pass Conner Stacy and move into second place behind Brayden Johnson on Alma's all-time receiving list.

Johnson hauled in 220 passes for 2,926 yards from 2015 to 2017.

Schlegel has 119 receptions for 1,880 yards.

"Watching Sam, that's a tribute to our staff and a couple of different offensive coordinators who have done a tremendous job of (spreading) the ball around," Alma coach Rusty Bush said. "I think tonight we had five different guys score touchdowns."

Schlegel scored twice in Friday's game to give him 11 touchdowns. His four-yard burst capped a nine-play, 50-yard march to open the second half, extending Alma's lead to 28-0.

Schlegel's final catch, a 40-yard touchdown pass with 4:14 left in the third, extended the lead to 40-0.

Sophomore quarterback Jay Lemieux, who won't turn 16 until December, completed 13-of-16 passes for 263 yards and a pair of scores. He's passed for 742 yards and five touchdowns since taking over as the team's starting quarterback three games ago.

"Playing with one of the best Alma players of all time, he's (Schlegel) honestly a different breed," Lemieux said. "It's great getting to play with him. He makes me look good."

"I'm proud of myself and I'm proud of my coaches for trusting me with the ball to get that (record)," Schlegel said. "I know Conner Stacy was a dog, and Brayden Johnson, who is No. 1, is a dog. I'm excited to be up there competing with them."

"The thing that people don't see is, he's a really hard worker," Bush said. "They (fans) see what he does on Friday nights. He's one of our best practice guys. He leads by example. Everything he's gotten he's earned."

Alma drove 40 yards in three plays on their first series for a 7-0 lead, capped by senior Demetrius Humphrey's first career touchdown.

Alma extended the lead to 13-0 with 8:37 left in the half when Dallas Perkins bolted in from the 10. Later, Lemieux's five-yard run extended the lead to 21-0.

Lemieux threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Jackson to make it 34-0.

Alma's defense held the Panthers to 155 yards, highlighted by Zach Dolson's 28-yard run.
