Muszanski’s late goal sends Alma past Farmington, 4-3

Trace Muszanski’s go-ahead goal helped send the Airedales to a 4-3 win over the Farmington Cardinals on Friday.
Sophomore Hamir Thibodeaux added two goals, including one in the 46th minute that helped Alma rally from a 2-1 halftime deficit. Thibodeaux’s first goal came in the 11th minute.
Isaac Wald’s goal, via Mason Mahar’s assist, made it 3-3 in the 71st minute. Barber then assisted Muszanski for the game-winner.
Keeper Lukas Todd finished with four saves.
Last week, Alma defeated Mena, 6-2, thanks to Thibodeaux’s hat trick. Through five games this season, Thibodeaux has eight goals and two assists.
He finished 2025 with eight goals and seven assists in 16 games.
Alma 7, Farmington 2
BASEBALL — Logan English gave Alma some cushion with one of the biggest swings of the season.
The Alma senior laced a two-out, three-run double to center field Friday to help the Airedales roll past Farmington, 7-2, in 5A-West play.
English finished with four RBIs as the Airedales took advantage of another stellar pitching performance.
Senior Braden Green pitched 6 ⅔ innings of strong baseball for his first victory of the season. He didn’t allow an earned run while striking out six.
The Airedales have allowed just two earned runs in their first 16 innings of conference play.
Alma travels to Greenwood on Tuesday and will host Harrison on Thursday.
Kangas breaks record
TRACK — Alma senior Nevaeh Kangas broke her own school record in the 1600 with a time of 5:35.46 and a third-place finish at the Quad City Invitational at Van Buren.
Kangas previously set the mark at 5:41.91. She also won the 800 meters with a time of 2:36.07.
Alma sophomore Josie Welborn won two events last week — the high jump (5-2) and the long jump (16-5 ¾). Welborn also placed fifth in the 200.
Olivia Whipple was second (30-6) in the triple jump, third in the 100 meters, and third (15-3 ½) in the long jump.
Ellyse Wright was sixth in the long jump, and Bree Allen placed eighth in the 800. Jaeli Morris was fourth in the shot put.
Alma senior Demetrius Humphrey was third (40-5) in the shot put and fourth in the discus.
