After qualifying at the state competition, three Alma High School students represented the Educators Rising chapter at the 2026 Educators Rising National Conference in Portland, Oregon. Throughout the conference, they showcased their talents, strengthened their leadership skills, and connected with future educators from across the country.
Caroline Bunzel and Kalyn Tipton competed in the Children’s Literature K–3 category, presenting their original children’s book. Keiala Lawson competed in the Educators Rising Moment category, delivering an inspiring speech about her passion for becoming a teacher.
In addition to competing, students attended breakout sessions focused on educational leadership, classroom innovation, and professional development - gaining valuable ideas and insight to bring back to the program.
While in Portland, they also had the opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and explore the city, making the trip both educational and memorable.
We are proud of Caroline, Kalyn, and Keiala for representing Alma School District with professionalism, enthusiasm, and excellence. Their hard work and dedication to the teaching profession truly stood out on the national stage.
