There has been plenty of festive fun happening across the district this week! From the Alma High School Chamber Choir spreading holiday cheer while caroling around the River Valley to the Alma Intermediate School Cookie Crew making their joyful rounds, the spirit of the season has been on full display. It’s a fun and special time of year at Alma School District! 🎄✨

All Sports Passes are now available at a discounted price at the Administration Building! A valid ID is required; payment by cash or check only. Passes are not valid for Little League games. Senior citizens may receive up to two passes, and student athlete passes are available for grades 7–12. Go Airedales! 📣🐾

Christmas Party Prep in Mrs. King’s Classroom. Students in Mrs. King’s College & Career classes at Alma High School were busy preparing sweet treats for their Christmas party on Wednesday! By following recipes and working together, students made cookies, dips, and candy — mixing holiday fun with real-world skills. A delicious way to celebrate the season!

AMS Drama Delivers Powerful Performances & Festive Fun!

Mrs. Bocksnick’s Drama II students wowed a packed house on Friday, December 12, with their one-act production of Betweenity by Lindsay Price! Performed in the AMS Black Box Theatre, the show explored the powerful moments — and words — left unsaid. The talented 7th- and 8th-grade cast delivered an outstanding performance, making it a night to remember!

The celebration didn’t stop there! Advanced Drama had a festive Christmas party and Junior Thespian inductions. Students donned Christmas PJs as new members were welcomed into Junior Thespian Troupe 88958, enjoying games, music, laughter, and lots of holiday cheer.

Alma Schools will be closed for Winter Break from Dec. 22–Jan. 2 for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Staff will return Jan. 5, and students will be back for the start of second semester on Jan. 6. Wishing all of our Airedales a joyful and safe winter break! ❄️

Last night, Alma High School proudly celebrated our fall athletes during the Fall Athletic Awards. Student-athletes from across all fall sports were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and commitment throughout the season. The evening highlighted individual achievements, team successes, and the sportsmanship that makes Airedale athletics something to be proud of. Congratulations to all of our fall athletes and coaches on a great season!

Mrs. Vargo’s students at Alma Primary School recently stepped into the role of paleontologists, digging for fossils to celebrate the completion of their fossil unit! 🦴🔍 Through hands-on exploration, students carefully uncovered “fossils,” made observations, and applied what they’ve learned about ancient life and the work of real scientists. What a fun and meaningful way to wrap up the unit!

Alma Primary has been mixing learning with holiday cheer! From building gingerbread houses to trips to the Christmas tree farm, our students are making festive memories — thanks to our wonderful staff for making it all possible!

Alma Primary School first graders got into the holiday spirit this week with a festive trip to a local Christmas tree farm! Students enjoyed exploring the farm, taking in the sights and sounds of the season, and even made a fun stop at the park for lunch. A big thank you to the farm and staff for making this magical visit possible!

We are proud to announce that Drayden Luker earned 2nd place in the statewide 6th-grade division of the Arkansas Peace Week Art Contest! Arkansas Peace Week promotes peacemaking and community awareness through events held across the state each September. Congratulations, Drayden, on representing Alma Middle School with creativity and heart!

Honoring our heroes! Alma High School NJROTC cadets teamed up with the Fort Smith community to prepare wreaths for Veterans at the National Cemetery. Huge thanks to our students for making this tribute possible!

Yesterday, Alma Intermediate School students had a very special guest - Miss Arkansas, Kennedy Holland! She spread holiday cheer by reading a festive story, singing a Christmas song, and answering all of our students’ curious questions about her role. Thank you, Ms. Holland, for taking the time to visit and brighten everyone’s day!

🎄 Alma Shines at the Arkansas State Capitol! 🎄

The Arkansas Department of Education is celebrating the unique spirit of communities across the state through the Arkansas Celebrates America250 Ornament Initiative — and Alma is proudly represented!

Students from across our district created ornaments showcasing the history, architecture, and spirit of Alma. Three designs were selected to represent our schools at the Capitol:

🏆 K–4 Winner: Knox Chronister (1st Grade)
🏆 5–8 Winner: Bentley Whitwam (7th Grade)
🏆 9–12 Winner: JulieAnn Sivage (10th Grade)

These winning designs have been printed as ornaments and are now displayed on a Christmas tree inside the Arkansas State Capitol through early January.

Recently, one of our Alma buses headed out to help a Fountain Lake School District trip route after their bus stalled — making sure their students got back to campus safely and comfortably.

This week, our Transportation Department received this envelope full of handwritten thank-you letters from the students we helped — and wow… they made our day!

Some of the notes said things like:
📨 “If you didn’t help us, we probably would have been stuck there for 20 hours.”
📨 “You’re the reason a bunch of kids weren’t stuck on a hot bus overnight. You made my wish for home come true.”
📨 “Without you, our parents would have had to drive 2–3 hours to get us.”
📨 “Not all heroes wear capes. You saved us that day!”

A huge thank-you to the Fountain Lake students for their kindness — and an even bigger thank-you to our Alma Transportation team for always stepping up when others need a hand.
