Airedales ease by Southside

Luke Stogsdill seems to be settling into his role as the sixth man.
The Alma junior swished all three of his 3-point attempts in the first half and finished with a career-high 15 points in the Airedales’ 82-66 win over Southside at Charles B. Dyer Arena.
Alma’s beaten the Mavericks four straight times (2020, 2023, 2024, 2025).
The Airedales, who never trailed, also matched the team’s best start since the 2020-21 season by winning for the fifth time in seven games. The Airedales host Bentonville West on Friday.
Senior standout Shep Newcomb added 27 points and a season-high 11 assists in the Airedales’ victory. He was 6-for-6 from the foul line as Alma made 8-of-11 free-throw attempts.
Junior Lawson Adams finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. He was 7-of-10 from the floor and, for the season, is shooting 65.3 percent from the floor.
Brody Johnson and Carson Curd finished with nine and eight points, respectively. Drake Ciampoli added four points, and Cade Moore and Braden Kimes had two points each.
Alma 45, Southside 40
FRESHMEN — Coach Eddie Corder’s Alma ninth-grade boys team edged the Mavericks’ ninth-grade team, 45-40, thanks to Aiden Kimes’ nine fourth-quarter points.
Kimes led the winners with 16 points, followed by Nate Risley and Aiden Caldwell with 15 and eight, respectively.
Alma’s Barrett Curd and Jake Johnson added three points each.
Southside 35, Alma 34
JUNIOR VARSITY — Southside’s Greyden Wasinger drained a 3-pointer from the top of the circle with 11.6 seconds left to help lead the Mavericks’ junior varsity team to a 35-34 win over the Airedales.
Landon Taylor led the Airedales with 14 points. Gabe Hardin added eight.
