Newcomb, Airedales overcome slow start, roll to 75-46 victory

Shep Newcomb scored 23 points, and Carson Curd and Lawson Adams combined for 23 more Tuesday to power the Airedales to a 75-46 win over Clarksville, the team’s fifth straight win over the Panthers.
Alma (9-4) actually fell behind 19-17 late in the first quarter before rallying for a 37-28 halftime lead. The team then opened the second half with a 16-2 scoring blitz.
Newcomb finished with six assists and six steals. With his 23 points, he’s now closing in on 2,300 for his career.
Adams and Luke Stogsdill finished with eight rebounds apiece. Stogsdill added nine points, while Cade Moore had eight points in just six minutes of playing time.
Brody Johnson finished with six points, and Braden Kimes and Landon Taylor had three points each.
The Airedales shot 39 percent (9-for-23) from beyond the arc, while outrebounding Clarksville 39-25.
Alma travels to Rogers on Friday.
