House-led Airedales pull away from Cyclones, 47-35

Madie House made 7-of-8 free throws and finished with a career-high 13 points as Alma rallied to beat the Russellville Lady Cyclones, 47-35, Tuesday at Charles B. Dyer Arena.
Alma (10-13, 2-5) trailed Russellville (8-13, 1-6) 13-7 in the first half before closing to within two (16-14) at intermission. The Lady Airedales then outscored the Cyclones 33-19 in the final 16 minutes.
House also pulled down five rebounds and had one steal.
Alma’s win also clinched its first-ever season sweep of the Cyclones. The two programs have met 27 times, and have been conference foes since the 2014-15 season.
In all, the Lady Airedales have beaten Russellville three of the last four times they’ve met.
Junior Brooklynn Holt led the Lady Airedales with 19 points, including four rebounds and a steal.
Freshman Collins Driscoll added five points and had a team-high 11 rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Sophomore Olivia Hughes finished with five points and seven boards.
Alma 75, Russellville 34
BOYS - Alma junior Lawson Adams started February the same way he ended January.
The Airedale standout matched a career-high with 27 points and grabbed a career-best 16 rebounds to help pace Alma to a 75-54 win over Russellville, the team’s third straight season sweep of the Cyclones.
Adams’ 16 boards surpassed his previous high of 12, set against Russellville (Jan. 6) and Pottsville (Dec. 9).
Over his last two games, Adams has 49 points on 21-of-23 shooting.
The Airedales led 19-16 after one quarter and 33-22 at the half. The Cyclones (9-14, 1-6) kept it close for a half by making six first-half 3-pointers. They finished 10–of-30 from beyond the arc, with junior Zayden Williams pouring in 35 points, including 5-of-8 from the 3-point line.
Three other Alma players, Shep Newcomb, Luke Stogsdill, and Carson Curd, scored in double figures. Newcomb had 18, and Stogsdill and Curd finished with 10 points each.
Alma was just 7-of-31 from the 3-point line but made up for it by outrebounding Russellville, 46-23.
Alma 33, Harrison 15
GIRLS - Hallie Morris and Harper Workman knocked down five of Alma’s six 3-pointers to help carry the Alma junior girls to a 33-15 win over Harrison Monday.
Morris led the winners with nine points. Workman added seven, and Bristol Welch and Eden Hamilton finished with six apiece.
Bryleigh Moore added four points, and Taylen Workman added one point.
