Alma junior girls rip Bulldogs

A pretty good 24 hours.

One day after Alma’s senior girls' team snapped a 17-game losing streak against Greenwood, the Lady Airedales’ junior team jumped out early and cruised to a 42-24 win over the Greenwood junior girls team on Wednesday at Crabtree Gym.

Bryleigh Moore did much of the damage in the first quarter, scoring 10 of her game-high 15 points in the victory. Harper Workman finished with 11 points, and Eden Hamilton and Bristol Welch had six and three points, respectively.

Taylen Workman, Hallie Morris, and Laylah Whitworth had two points each.

Greenwood 64, Alma 52

BOYS — The Alma Airedales’ junior team suffered a 64-52 loss to Greenwood on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs hit 13 3-pointers en route to a wire-to-wire victory. Nate Risley and Aiden Kimes had nine points each, and Barrett Curd and Aiden Caldwell finished with eight and six points.

Billy Burden and Callum Wood added five and four points, and Jude Walker finished with three.

Alma 39, Greenwood 35

BOYS — Colten Ritchey scored 11 of his game-high 15 points in the fourth quarter, including Alma’s final seven points to cap a wild 39-35 victory Wednesday at Crabtree Gym.

Alma trailed 19-6 at the half and 23-6 with three minutes to play in the third quarter.

Carter Meredith started the comeback with a series of third-quarter layups. He scored nine of his 11 points in the second half. Jude Walker scored all seven of his points in the second half as well.

Bryson Taylor and Landen Quinalty finished with two points each, and David Gillingham and Boston Parnell scored one point each.
