Alma DECA Visits Walmart Home Office

Alma DECA members had an incredible opportunity on March 17 to visit the Walmart Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas - getting a behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s largest retailers.

Students explored how Walmart uses technology like data analytics, artificial intelligence, and advanced supply chain systems to stay competitive and serve customers at a high level. They also learned about the wide range of career opportunities within the company - from business and law to food services… and even DJs 🎧

One of the biggest takeaways? The scale. Students described the campus as a “city within a city,” filled with endless opportunities and resources. They were also impressed by how much Walmart invests in its employees, offering amenities like fitness centers, childcare, dining, and collaborative workspaces.

The visit opened students’ eyes to unique career paths - including drone pilots, event planners, designers, and more - showing how many different passions can fit into one organization.

A stop at the Walmart Museum helped bring it all together, highlighting Sam Walton’s journey and reinforcing the value of innovation, risk-taking, and vision.

Overall, this experience gave students a real-world look at business, leadership, and future career possibilities - bringing DECA skills to life in a powerful way.
