Alma High School seniors set aside their regular class schedule on September 23 for College and Career Day, a full day devoted to exploring their options and preparing for life after graduation.
The morning began with practical guidance from AHS staff on transcript procedures, the Class of 2027 Google Site, a college planning checklist and scholarship opportunities. Seniors also took part in activities that kept the day interactive as they considered their next steps.
Guest speakers then introduced students to a wide range of paths. Sessions covered opportunities at Arkansas Tech University–Ozark Campus, military service and law enforcement, followed by perspectives from professionals in law, banking, cosmetology, barbering, chiropractic care, electrical work, construction and other local industries. A networking lunch gave students another chance to connect and ask questions.
To close the day, seniors visited a college and career fair in Crabtree Arena and had dedicated time to work on applications. College and Career Day gave the Class of 2027 a chance to hear directly from people working in different fields, explore possibilities and make progress on their plans for the future.
