Host an International Student

Hosting an international student is easy! Here are the basics you need to know:
The host family will provide the student with a bed and meals
The host family will learn first-hand about another culture
The student will attend Alma High School
The student will become part of the host family
The student is responsible for all school and extra expenses (such as going out with friends, clothing, and souvenirs)
The student will carry their own health and liability insurance
Many companies offer a small stipend ($400) to the family to help with monthly expenses
If you're interested in welcoming an international student into your home or simply want more information about the exchange student program, please contact Eileen Parham. You can reach out to her by sending an email at EParham@almasd.net or calling 479-462-5100.
Still not sure?
At Alma School District, we understand that hosting a student from another country is a significant commitment. These students come from diverse backgrounds and cultures, and while we can't guarantee a perfect fit, we believe that hosting is a valuable and rewarding experience for every family. We're looking for families who are eager to display their American spirit and open up their homes and hearts to youth from around the world. Our district has welcomed students from China, Thailand, Vietnam, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, the Czech Republic, and many other countries.
By hosting international students, our families have the opportunity to provide a life-changing experience for both themselves and the students. It's a chance to learn about different cultures, make new connections, and create lasting memories. We hope that you'll consider hosting carefully and join us in bringing these bright and lovely students into our district.
