Students in Mrs. Pitts’ class recently took part in the Peace Week Youth Art Contest. This contest invites Arkansas students from grades 1 to 12 across the state to participate. The theme, "What does peace mean to you?" inspired students to portray a vision of a more harmonious community through their artwork. Eight entries from each grade will be chosen as finalists and showcased at the Arkansas State Capitol from November 10 to 16, 2024. The award winners will be revealed during a ceremony at the Capitol on November 16, 2024. Take a look at their creations below!

This week, we set sail and celebrated National School Lunch Week in cafeterias throughout the district! Established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, National School Lunch Week (NSLW) has annually highlighted the significance of a nutritious school lunch in a child's life and its effects both inside and outside the classroom. This year's theme, “School Lunch Pirates: Find Your Treasure,” underscored the essential role that healthy school lunches play in students' academic and social success. The Child Nutrition Workers at Alma School District truly went above and beyond, wearing their best pirate attire and turning their kitchens into a pirate paradise! A huge shoutout to them for their unwavering dedication, especially this week, for transforming lunchtime into an exciting treasure hunt for all the students!

Students explored future job opportunities in various fields, including manufacturing and engineering, agriculture and construction, arts and communications, business and marketing, health sciences, human services, and information technology. The Peak Center welcomed nearly 3,000 eighth graders from across the region, helping them connect with potential career pathways. With over 100 employers and young professional volunteers present, this event was truly memorable for our students!
