Convocation 2025

Yesterday, the Alma School District closed out another successful academic year with the 2025 End-of-Year Convocation — a heartfelt celebration of service, achievement, and community. Teachers, staff, and administrators gathered to reflect on the year’s accomplishments and recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond in their roles.

The event honored long-term service milestones, celebrated the retirement of several beloved staff members, and highlighted the dedication and excellence of our Teacher and Classified Employee of the Year nominees.

We’re proud to announce this year’s top honorees:

  • Teacher of the Year: Danny Hobson

  • Classified Employee of the Year: Belinda Bowen

These recipients exemplify the passion and commitment that drive our district forward. We also applaud all the outstanding nominees who were recognized for their contributions:

  • Classified Employee of the Year Nominees: Ashley Dean, Belinda Bowen, Lauren Wakefield, Janet Camden, and Basil Kenner

  • Teacher of the Year Nominees: Danny Hobson, Debby Barrett, Emily Engelke, and Amanda Shores

  • Child Nutrition Employee of the Year: Gidget Goodwin

Adding a joyful spirit to the convocation, staff members entertained their colleagues with creative and fun performances, showcasing the incredible talent that thrives within our district.

We extend a heartfelt thank-you to Workman’s Travel Center for sponsoring our end-of-year breakfast and to The Coffee Parlor and Airedale Nutrition for their generous drink donations. Your support makes a meaningful difference to our faculty and staff — thank you for helping us start the day on a high note.

A special part of the program was dedicated to honoring this year’s retirees. These individuals have devoted years — in some cases, decades — to our students and schools, leaving a legacy of care, commitment, and excellence:

  • Bernadette Cantrell – 26 years

  • Kim Chatman – 21 years

  • Phyllis Hutain – 20 years

  • Ronnie Jeffcoat – 7 years

  • Pat Kenner – 5 years

  • Mike Raymer – 10 years

  • Carol Ridenour – 33 years

  • Tina Wilkinson – 24 years

  • Trudi Word – 35 years

We thank each retiree for their incredible service and wish them the very best in their next chapter.

Congratulations to all who were recognized today. Your impact reaches far beyond the classroom and continues to inspire. Have a safe, relaxing, and well-earned summer break!
