Last Monday, Alma High School students and advisor Ashtan Sieber spent the day learning beyond the classroom!
Through Airelooms’ renewed membership with the Alma Area Chamber of Commerce, students joined Brian Huff and Kyle Morris for a networking breakfast at Airedale Diner. Kyle shared his business journey and encouraged students to choose kindness, build connections and always strive to do their best.
Students also joined the Arkansas DECA State Board meeting virtually from Olive Coffee before visiting the Alma Public Library, where leadership team members Barrett Curd and Jake Johnson saw their co-authored children’s book, Silly Goose, featured on the shelves! 📚

The parade begins at 6:00 p.m. on Main Street, heads down Fayetteville Avenue and returns via Spring Street.
Please note that AHS parade participants will assemble and dismiss in the band lot area, while Little League participants will stage in the visitor parking section.

Alma Primary School kindergarten students welcomed some very special guests today as several classes celebrated Grandparents Day! Students and their grandparents enjoyed cookies, conversation and time together. We loved seeing so many sweet moments and smiling faces, with more celebrations to come tomorrow!
Alma Intermediate School has welcomed some “extra” students during Bring Your Parent to PE Week! Parents are joining their children for lessons focused on cooperation and teamwork while practicing communication, working toward shared goals, encouraging teammates and celebrating the success of others. Mrs. Dunn’s Alma High School healthcare students recently visited Johnson Dermatology for a behind-the-scenes look at the field! Students toured the facility, explored career opportunities in dermatology and learned more about skin health. Today, Alma High School seniors gathered once again ahead of College & Career Day to hear from UAFS Chancellor Dr. Terisa Riley and other university representatives. They shared what makes the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith a great place to continue their education, including the wide variety of programs and opportunities available. Join us Monday, September 21, at 6:00 p.m. as the parade begins on Main Street and heads down Fayetteville Avenue, bringing back the route many may remember from years past. Participants will return via Spring Street to their assembly and dismissal areas.

The players will return this spring, when the roles will reverse and the kindergarteners will get to read to them. We love seeing our students connect across campuses!

Paula Crabtree and Lawanna Gill of the Crawford County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee presented a generous donation to support Jack Snacks, benefiting students at Alma Primary School and Alma Intermediate School. APS Principal Shawn Bullard and AIS Principal Jennifer Lyon accepted the check on behalf of their schools. The committee also celebrated Alma High School student and Alma FFA President Hailey Kelly as the very first Crawford County Ag Student of the Month! Nominated by teachers Cara Willmon and Courtney Hicks, Hailey was recognized for her outstanding leadership and hard work. Congratulations, Hailey, and thank you to the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee for supporting Alma students!
Today, Alma School District pauses to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, honor the courage and sacrifice of so many, and reflect on the unity that brought our nation together. We will never forget.
An AFMC Medicaid representative will be available at Alma Intermediate School on October 16 during Parent Teacher Conferences. Families can receive help with Medicaid applications, renewals, finding or assigning a primary care provider, and locating other valuable resources. This opportunity is open to all Alma School District students and families, not just those attending AIS.

In recognition of the 25th anniversary of September 11, Alma High School Environmental Science students explored the unique connection between remembrance and modern green engineering through a case study of the National 9/11 Memorial fountains.
After watching Inside the Nightly Cleaning of the 9/11 Memorial, students examined how real-time sensors, energy-efficient equipment and sustainable water-management practices keep the massive outdoor fountains operating year-round while supporting the memorial’s LEED Gold standards. The lesson challenged students to consider how engineers balance conservation, safety, reliability, cost and design when solving complex environmental problems.
This meaningful lesson blended science, engineering and civic reflection - demonstrating how thoughtful technology and human care can work together to honor history and build a more sustainable future.

Planning for life after high school is already well underway for our seniors! Ahead of College and Career Day, students will have the opportunity to hear from representatives from a couple of different colleges. Today, Joey Hughes from the University of the Ozarks visited with students to share more about their options after graduation. A special shoutout to the dedicated Alma High School counselors who work hard to help our seniors prepare for their next steps! ⭐️🎓
