On Tuesday, Alma School District took around 70 students from our agriculture, engineering, and college & career programs to the Build My Future – NWA event. Students participated in hands-on activities like welding, carpentry, operating equipment, and exploring careers through interactive exhibits.
This incredible experience gave our students a real-world look at high-demand careers and the skills needed after graduation.
We are proud of our students for representing Alma so well and taking advantage of this opportunity to explore their future pathways!

The AHS Art Show is now on display in the Skokos Performing Arts Center-Alma and will be up throughout the month of April, continuing through the weekend of the Dance Show. You can find the exhibit to the right of the concession stand area - be sure to stop by and take a look!
Our students have worked incredibly hard all year, showing tremendous growth and creativity. This collection highlights their amazing artistic talents and dedication - it’s truly something special to see!

🌵🔬 Symbiotic Speed Dating Brings Science to Life at Alma Middle School!
In Mrs. Price's class, Students recently dove into an exciting, hands-on activity where science met creativity - Symbiotic Speed Dating! Each student became a desert organism and rotated through quick “dates,” exploring how their organism interacts within an ecosystem.
Through these fast-paced conversations, students identified relationships like mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism - deciding who benefits, who’s unaffected, and who might be harmed.
This engaging experience not only strengthened their understanding of ecological connections but also built communication and critical thinking skills. By the end, one thing was clear: even in the desert, relationships matter!

Inspired by contemporary quilt artist Bisa Butler, our 7th and 8th-grade artists at Alma Middle School brought meaningful stories to life through vibrant portrait creations.
Using colored paper and fabric, students explored the history and cultural significance of color while experimenting with techniques to create expressive, one-of-a-kind pieces. Each artist selected someone they admire - parents, grandparents, and community members - and used color intentionally to highlight the character traits that make their subject special.
Every portrait tells a story, and these students did an incredible job sharing the people who inspire them most! 🎨

Alma’s chess teams made impressive moves at the recent Mansfield Chess Tournament, bringing home multiple team honors and individual medals across all grade levels!
The 4th-grade team earned an outstanding 3rd place overall finish - just one point shy of tying for the top spot. Drake Peters, Jace Carmel, Ava McMellon, and Carter Wheeler each posted strong 4–1 records to secure bronze medals.
The 5th and 6th grade team delivered a dominant performance, capturing 1st place overall! Star Stout and RJ Welch each earned bronze medals with 4 wins, while Cooper Dickens went a perfect 5–0 to claim a gold medal and finish the tournament undefeated.
At the junior high level, Alma Middle School placed 2nd overall, tying for 1st with Greenwood before falling in a tiebreaker. The team brought home an impressive seven medals, highlighted by Bentley Parks with a gold medal (5–0). Silver medalists (4–1) included Brenden Allen, Aryiah Barker, Rachel DeWater, Bryson Heldebrandt, Valen Hogue, and Bryson Taylor. In the 6th-grade competition, Hunter Wilmoth earned silver, while Hunter Hudson and Troy Norris added bronze medals.

Alma Middle School art students recently took part in a special program with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art as part of the America 250 “Common Threads” Community Quilt Project!
Each student designed a unique quilt square inspired by their own Arkansas story, showcasing creativity, history, and personal connection. Their designs are now being brought to life by talented quilters at the museum, alongside contributions from schools and community members across the state.
Even more exciting - these collaborative quilts are now on display at Crystal Bridges through the end of the summer!

Future healthcare heroes in the making! Before spring break, 8th graders from Alma Middle School explored their potential career paths with a visit to the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education. Students toured the College of Osteopathic Medicine and the College of Occupational/Physical Therapy, getting a firsthand look at what it takes to succeed in the health industry. The future is bright!
