Today, Dr. Mike McSpadden visited with our eighth-grade social studies students to discuss the rich history of Alma. Students enjoyed learning more about the people, places, and events that helped shape the community they call home!
We know it may feel a little early to talk about Christmas, but we’re getting a head start on spreading holiday cheer!
As part of Alma School District’s Purple Star Program, Alma Primary School and Alma Intermediate School are teaming up to sponsor a care package drive for members of the 142nd Field Artillery Brigade, Arkansas National Guard, who are currently deployed.
Families may donate snacks, personal-care items, games, festive socks, handwritten cards and other useful items from September 15 through October 15. Donations can be dropped off at APS or AIS and will be delivered in time for Christmas.
Let’s show these brave men and women that their service and sacrifice are appreciated - and that they are remembered and supported back home!

Alma School District will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Classes and regular district operations will resume on Tuesday, September 8. We hope our students, staff, and families enjoy a safe and relaxing three-day weekend!

Friday’s 80th Battle of the Bone brought our community together for a night of tradition and Airedale spirit! Former head coach Frank Vines was recognized as the honorary captain and took the field for the coin toss - a special highlight of the pregame festivities. While the game didn’t end the way we hoped, we’re grateful for everyone who filled the stands and supported our Airedales. Enjoy these moments from before kickoff! 🏈📸

As we get ready to cheer on our Airedales, we want everyone at Airedale Stadium to have a safe, enjoyable, and positive experience! Students are expected to follow the same behavioral expectations at athletic events that they follow during the school day.
Please take a moment to review these important game day reminders with your student before heading to the stadium.
Most importantly, we want our students to enjoy the game, support our Airedales, and spend time with their friends while helping us create a great atmosphere for everyone.

Alma DECA President Cade Moore recently visited Mrs. Barrett’s business classes at Alma Middle School to share what DECA means to him and highlight the opportunities he has gained through traveling, competing, and networking across the country! He also shared helpful tips for choosing a competition topic that aligns with each student’s interests and strengths. We are excited to welcome new members and see where their DECA journey takes them! 💼🌟
A big thank-you to Alma Walmart for generously donating seeds, soil, growing trays, and grow lights to the Outdoor Classroom at Alma Intermediate School! These supplies will help students in grades 3–5 learn about plants, support agricultural instruction, enhance science lessons across the district, and beautify the outdoor classroom. Materials will also be shared with the AHS greenhouse and other district science classrooms.
We also appreciate Jamie Shipman and the Tom Perry Landscaping Company crew for dedicating many hours to restoring the outdoor classroom’s water feature. They will return this fall to add mulch and other materials to further enhance the space.
A special thank-you to Mrs. Melinda Bailey for coordinating these efforts and helping keep the Outdoor Classroom thriving! We are grateful for the retirees, employees, businesses, and community members who continue to give their time and resources to create meaningful learning opportunities for our students. As Tom Perry says, “It’s all about the kids!”

Big news for our students! Thanks to Airedale Nutrition, ALL Alma Middle School and Alma High School students will receive FREE admission to Friday night’s first home varsity football game - the Battle of the Bone against Van Buren! Tickets will be distributed to students at each campus this week and must be presented at the gate for free admission. Come fill the stands, cheer on the Airedales, and help us kick off the home season with an incredible atmosphere! 🏈🐾💚💛
Last Friday, Alma Intermediate School students put service into action by delivering Cinnabon cinnamon rolls to the wonderful staff members who help make their school such a special place! In addition to learning the importance of serving others, these monthly projects give students an opportunity to practice appropriate and meaningful conversations with adults.

Club Fair Day at Alma High School! 🎉 Students had the opportunity to explore the many clubs and organizations available, meet current members, and discover new ways to get involved throughout the school year!
🌎 Spanish I students at Alma High School recently explored countries around the world where Spanish is an official language! Students researched their assigned countries and drew each country’s flag, using their artwork to create this colorful “¡Hola!” display. Ms. Trenity Myers is new to the district this year and is already off to a great start with her students!

Next, they put their collaboration, planning, and problem-solving skills to the test as they worked within specific constraints to save Fred the gummy worm from shark-infested waters!
What a fun, hands-on way to begin the school year while practicing important scientific-thinking skills!
