Last week at the Varsity basketball game, we kicked off our very first Slam Dunk Storytime! This new initiative is a fun way to encourage reading while students enjoy the excitement of the game. We invited all children to join us in the hospitality room for a brief read-aloud session, not just those from our home team. We’re thrilled to report that the event was a huge success, with 16 children in attendance, all of whom were fully engaged and excited throughout the story. Mr. Bullard did an outstanding job reading aloud, keeping the young audience captivated. After the story, the children received a treat from Scruffy to enjoy during the game. If you missed it, no worries! Slam Dunk Storytime will be held at every home varsity game, with new guest readers each time. We hope to see you there!

Grinch Day was a huge hit at Alma Intermediate School! Students celebrated with themed snacks, including "Who-Hash" and "Grinch Juice," while watching the classic original version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The highlight of the day was a surprise visit from a certain mischievous green visitor, who brought a touch of chaos to the festivities. It was a wonderful way to bring holiday cheer and create lasting memories for everyone involved. Great job, Alma Intermediate, for making the season so magical!

Not to be outdone, 5th grader Troy Norris brought his A-game and clinched a bronze medal, also with a stellar 4-1 performance. A huge congratulations to all our participants — you’ve made us proud! Keep up the great work as you continue your chess journey. ♟️🎉

The generosity of our community continues to enrich the students of the Alma School District. Last week, the Hand to Hand Foundation brought joy to many families by organizing a toy giveaway at the Alma High School campus. Additionally, around 120 students benefitted from the Shop With a Cop program this past Saturday, made possible by the Alma Police Focus Group, local law enforcement, and numerous donors. Several of our dedicated counselors, including Brandi Brogan, Kristin Wagner, and Torie Goode, played a significant role in ensuring the success of this initiative. A heartfelt thank you to everyone in the district and the community for your contributions to these efforts.

🎉 Way to Go, Alma Rubik’s Cube Team! 🧩

Mr. Bridges recently organized chess tryouts for 4th and 5th graders at Alma Intermediate School. He was truly impressed by the student's performance and attentiveness to instruction. In response, the GT department purchased chess boards for every classroom, allowing students to further develop their skills. Since team spots were limited, Mr. Bridges encouraged those who didn't make the team to keep practicing and enhancing their abilities. We are excited to see how this activity will continue to evolve! Keep up the fantastic work!

Alma Intermediate School happenings! Mrs. Feurtado continues to bring excitement to the Alma Intermediate Library! This week, students read "Balloons Over Broadway," which explores the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. After this engaging story, they had the opportunity to unleash their creativity by crafting their own parade balloons using foil. The creativity was off the charts! Huge shoutout to Mrs. Feurtado for making learning a blast! Please visit the Alma School District Facebook page for more photos.

Wednesday was celebrated as World Kindness Day! Ms. Hall at Alma Intermediate School took this opportunity to create a memorable experience for the 3rd graders. Smokey the Bear, accompanied by several of his friends, made a delightful visit that was cherished by all! They handed out stickers, answered questions, provided goodie bags for the teachers, and gave students the chance to take photos with Smokey! We are truly thankful to the Cass Job Corps team and Smokey for their time and generosity. Remember, being KIND is always COOL!
