Alma High School student Xavier Herzig participated in the 2024 Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles, California. Competing against 1,700 students from all 50 states and over 40 countries, his project focused on testing the efficiency of a hydrogen fuel cell at different temperatures. He is the first student from Alma to compete at ISEF in several years. Congratulations, Xavier, on this outstanding achievement!
Daytona Nationals
Alma NJROTC team embarked on a memorable trip to Daytona for the National High School Drill Team Championships. Their journey included stops at Pensacola Naval Air Station to watch the Blue Angel Flight Demonstration Squadron and Jacksonville Naval Air Station for tours hosted by VP-30 and VUP-19. The cadets also had a morning Physical Training session on the beach in Daytona and participated in the prestigious drill and ceremony competition with 98 schools in attendance. The first day focused on basic components like Inspection, Regulation, and Color Guard events, while the second day featured a variety of exhibition events, including solo and dual performances. Alma competed in the advanced division for the first time and achieved 5th place in Personnel Inspection. Congratulations on a job well done!

PRE-K PROGRAM UPDATE
We are collaborating with state officials as we progress with the planning phase to introduce a Pre-K program at Alma School District. If everything unfolds as anticipated, we aim to launch the Pre-K program by the 2024-2025 school year. Once we receive approval, we will share more details. The March board meeting, initially canceled due to severe weather, has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 4th at 6 pm. The regular April board meeting will proceed as planned on April 11th at 6 pm.

Spring Break reminder! March 18th to March 22nd is designated as Spring Break, with students scheduled to resume classes on Monday, March 25th.

Attention Class of 2024: The AEAF scholarship application is now available! The Alma Education and Arts Foundation grants scholarships annually to deserving candidates looking to further their education post high school. These scholarships consider both financial need and academic merit and are open to all fields of study, not just arts-related ones. They can be used for technical, trade, and vocational programs in addition to traditional college degrees. Various scholarships stem from family memorials, private donations, and grants. To apply for these scholarships, fill out the online application form. UPDATED SCHOOL CALENDAR / Following state approval, we will switch to the alternative calendar for the rest of this academic year. By using the hourly model, we can prevent adding the 4 remaining snow days to the end of the year. These days will be covered by our current instructional time. Currently, the school year will conclude on Friday, May 24, 2024.

In Mrs. Ikenberry's transition classes at Alma High School, students successfully obtained the Professional Guest Services Certification. This certification will open up various career opportunities for the students, allowing them to excel in the hospitality industry. With Mrs. Ikenberry's guidance and support, students were able to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to provide exceptional guest services. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication, and it will surely pave the way for a bright and successful future in the field of hospitality. These classes have proven to be a valuable stepping stone for these students as they embark on their professional journeys.

From Airedales to Tigers / Yesterday, we celebrated a major achievement with Jackson Daily, a senior from Alma High School, as he took a significant step in his football career by signing his letter of intent to join the University of Missouri football program. 🎶 Success for Alma High School Choir at Arkansas All-State Choirs Auditions 🎶
On February 2nd, 25 Alma High School Choir students auditioned for the Arkansas All-State Choirs. Despite the demanding process of performing upper college-level music and sight-reading in front of judges, 25 students were selected to audition, with 2 becoming eligible only two days before! After much anticipation, 18 of Alma High School's students were chosen to participate in the All-State Choirs. The event will take place from February 15th to 17th in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Congratulations to you all!
